We are junkies, but we belong to Christ

We are junkies

born from the darkness

who hail to the god of this world.

Who are enslaved by our blackened veins

and withered eyes.

And who refine in the art

of falling to the depths of our own demise.

We peer through our wounded souls,

wanting out,

but finding stitches made of coagulated blood

sewn through and though

the lost dimension of our hearts.

One prick

Two prick

Three prick

Four,

we creep in the shadows

of this insidious lore.

We open a door

and then another

each one mirroring the face

of our most intimate demons.

Until we fall:

some of us die,

but some of us find Christ

who pulls us into the light.

And our frail and eroding

bodies are made new,

giving us the vision of life.
